Please be considerate when lighting bonfires
Bonfires can become a nuisance and lead to complaints or even danger if you don’t consider your environment before lighting-up.
Please think about your neighbours who may be hanging out washing, enjoying their own gardens or affected in other ways by the smoke.
Hertfordshire County Council encourage everyone to be as safe as possible with this guidance:
Check online with your local council to see if they have any restrictions imposed
Don’t burn wet waste or green vegetation
Don’t burn household waste, rubber tyre or anything containing plastic, foam or paint
Don’t ever leave a fire unattended
Don’t have a fire near fences, trees, or buildings
Always have a garden hose or bucket of water nearby
