First Older Person Activity Learning & Safety session at Glebe House
Our first ‘Older Person Activity Learning & Safety’ (OPALS) session in partnership with Herts Fire and Rescue Service and Herts Police has taken place at Glebe House in Ickleford.
While residents enjoyed tea and cake, members of the services gave informative talks on staying safe and well both within the home and while out shopping.
Important tips like keeping ground floor windows closed when you’re not in the room were well received, and handy devices to help keep purses safe in bags and pockets were offered.
settle colleagues also accompanied fire fighters to give individual advice and help to residents in their flats
Joe Williams, director of housing said: “This is a great example of partnership working to support residents’ wellbeing. Several positive actions were taken as a result of the session, and we plan to carry out an OPALS event at many of our schemes during the year.”
