Neighbourhood action days in Poynders Meadow and Hartington Place

From 24 to 26 of April, colleagues came together to take part in our neighbourhood action days at Poynders Meadow in the village of Codicote and Hartington Place in Letchworth Garden City.

We have run similar neighbourhood action days  as part of our commitment to investing in neighbourhoods and creating places where residents feel proud to live.

On Wednesday, settle colleagues spent the day at Poynders Meadow following feedback from local residents to improve the garden area. This included jet washing benches and pathways, weeding and trimming plants to keep them tidy and healthy, and smoothing out rough or unkept areas. We also helped to plant various new watered shrubs.

On Thursday and Friday, colleagues went to Hartington Place and dug out and cut back old shrubs and lavenders in the central communal area and replanted with a new selection of herbs. They also weeded and re-laid gravel on the central paths, cleaned all the play equipment and benches.  An edible garden made up of fruit bushes and trees was planted for residents to pick and make use of once they have grown.

Over the coming months our Estates team will continue the good work around the site, with the removal of old bikes from the sheds and planting more replacement bushes in areas that require it. We will continue to keep residents informed about future action days in other neighbourhoods and publish them on the website.
