Water meter may reduce your water charges

We know that many of our residents have water charges that make up a portion of their total weekly rent.

The increase in the cost of living and the fluctuations of who is living in your household, can mean that set water rates may not be the most cost-effective way for residents to pay for the water that they use.

It may be worth exploring the potential savings from installing a water meter and pay only for the amount of water you use.  You will need to contact your water provider who will be able to support you with this.

Do I need permission?

If you wish to have a water meter installed, you do not need permission from Settle. You simply need to arrange for a water meter to be fitted with your water provider and then supply Settle with a certificate of installation, so that water charges are removed from your rent.

You can find out who your water is provided by visiting the Water UK website.

If you live on a block of flats, your water provider may need access to a communal service cupboard or a letter confirming our consent. Please don’t hesitate to contact us for this information.

Save on water costs

If you are in receipt of a benefit and/or council tax support benefit, you could be eligible for a social water tariff. This could substantially reduce how much you pay for the water you use. You can read more information about ways to lower your water bills and cost of living support on our Support from Settle webpage.
