Fire safety in your home
Together we can help keep your home safe. If you rent your home from us, we have installed a smoke alarm on every habitable floor and a carbon-monoxide alarm in any room with a fuel-burning appliance such as a gas or oil boiler. If any alarms are missing or faulty, please let us know immediately.
If you own your own home, please consider fitting smoke and carbon-monoxide alarms in the locations mentioned. Note that it’s a legal requirement if you rent out your property.
We carry out regular Fire Risk Assessments in our blocks of flats and will contact residents if we notice fire safety risks such as doors propped open or items in hallways. Please help us to keep your home safe.
Whether a tenant or homeowner, please:
- test your smoke alarms weekly
- take the home fire safety check at www.safelincs.co.uk/hfsc
- search for ‘Don’t be electricked’ at www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk to watch a one minute video about electrical equipment in your home
- take-out or update home contents insurance. Choose your own provider or we can offer cover from 40p a week to tenants and homeowners. Search ‘home contents’ on our website.
