Jackmans residents welcome defibrillator donation from Settle
We are proud to have installed a second defibrillator in one of our largest neighbourhoods this month, in partnership with the Justin Edinburgh 3 (JE3) Foundation.
Residents and local partners came together at a recent event to mark the installation of the life-saving defibrillator – located at Ivel Court in the Jackmans neighbourhood, Letchworth Garden City. A defibrillator was installed at John Barker Place in Westmill in Hitchin in October.
Joe Williams, Director of Housing at Settle, local Councillors – Sadie Billing and Tamsin Thomas, and residents attended the event. JE3 founder, Charlie Edinburgh was on hand to give an overview of how the defibrillator works. He formed the charity in memory of his father Justin Edinburgh—a former Tottenham Hotspur player and Leyton Orient manager—who tragically passed away five years ago after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
Joe Williams said: “We’re incredibly proud to have installed a second defibrillator within a month at another of our biggest neighbourhoods, ensuring residents have access to critical life-saving equipment in case of emergency. A huge thank you to the JE3 Foundation for their support in making this possible.”
Councillor Tamsin Thomas added: “It’s wonderful to see this life-saving equipment installed at Ivel Court. Partnerships like this show the strength of our community and the importance of working together to make a difference. Huge thanks to Settle and the JE3 Foundation for this generous and impactful donation.”
Councillor Sadie Billing said: “This defibrillator is an invaluable addition to Jackmans, providing residents with peace of mind and a vital resource that could save lives in an emergency. We are so grateful to Settle and the JE3 Foundation for their commitment to our community’s safety and wellbeing.”
Charlie Edinburgh from JE3 Foundation added: “We are delighted to be able to work with Settle again to provide this potentially life-saving equipment. Our aims and ambitions are to continue saving lives in the face of cardiac arrest. With this latest donation we will see a community benefit and have peace of mind should they ever need to use this defibrillator.”
