Jackmans neighbourhood: You said, we’re listening

Building on our Neighbourhood Action Weeks and Big Door Knock in autumn 2024, Settle colleagues returned to the Jackmans neighbourhood in early April, alongside our partners from North Herts Police and North Herts Council.
This community safety event was part of our ongoing commitment to act on feedback from residents around anti-social behaviour concerns and to work with partners to help improve the local area.
During our recent visit, we spoke to residents about safety concerns and reminded them how to report anti-social behaviour. North Herts Police addressed some immediate concerns, and many residents thanked us for taking the time to listen and act. They were pleased with the improved lighting around Ivel Court, and we will continue to discuss further improvements with North Herts Council.
To find out more about what residents told us last October and November, our other areas of focus and what we are doing in response to this feedback, you can find this in our Jackmans Neighbourhood Plan. This plan keeps residents updated on the actions we are taking to help make the neighbourhood feel safer, more welcoming, and a better place to live.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the community safety event. Most residents reported feeling safe in their neighbourhood and knew how to report anti-social behaviour. We will continue working closely with you and our partners to help make your neighbourhoods feel safer and more welcoming.
What we heard on the day
It’s been a positive event, and we’ve had good engagement with residents to hear and understand the issues affecting them. We encourage residents to continue to come forward to the police with any concerns they have about their local area.
